BREAST CANCER

Micro RNA gene expression deregulation in human breast cancer.

What are microRNA’s?

A class of non coding RNA’s that control gene expression by targeting mRNA’s and triggering either translation repression or RNA degradation.

The use of miRNA microarrays in this experiment has made possible to confirmmiR-16 deregulation in human CLL (chronic lymphocytic leukaemia) also associated with well defined clinopathologic features of human CLL.

Recognition of miRNA’s that are differentially expressed between normal and tumour cells may help to identify those that are involved in human cancer and establish the basis to unravel their pathogenic role.
